How to Download Facebook Videos on Android and PC

A simple guide to saving public Facebook videos and Reels in HD or SD on your Android phone or your Windows, Mac or Chromebook computer.

Facebook does not give you a download button on most videos, but you can still save a public video to watch offline. Here is how to do it on Android and on a computer, with no extension and no login.

On an Android phone

  1. In the Facebook app, find the video and tap Share.
  2. Tap Copy link.
  3. Open the Facebook video downloader in Chrome.
  4. Paste the link into the box and tap Fetch.
  5. Choose HD or SD and tap Download.

The MP4 is saved to your Downloads folder and usually shows up in your gallery or Files app within moments.

On Windows, Mac or Chromebook

  1. Open the video on facebook.com.
  2. Copy the address from your browser bar. If you only see a pop-up player, click the video's date or time to open it on its own page, then copy the address.
  3. Paste it into the Facebook video downloader and click Fetch.
  4. Choose a quality and click Download.

HD or SD: which should you pick?

HD is sharper but the file is larger. If you are saving a long video on a phone with limited storage, SD is often good enough. HD only appears in the list if the person who uploaded the video provided it.

Which Facebook videos can be downloaded?

Public videos, public Reels and videos on Facebook Watch can be saved. Videos in private groups, on private profiles or shared only with friends cannot, because the downloader never logs in to Facebook.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that the video opens in a private or incognito browser window. If it does not, it is not public.
  • Short fb.watch links work, but if one fails, open it and copy the full address instead.
  • If a link fails once, try again later. Facebook sometimes limits requests from web servers for a short time.
